Veterans: Use Your GI Bill®

Thank you for your service. Many SDI, TDI and ERDI certifications and professional ratings are GI Bill® approved, so if you're eligible the VA can pay you back for the certification fees.

Deep Adventures is veteran-owned (Ben is a Navy combat veteran himself), and we take 10% off tuition for military, veterans and public safety, with proof of status.

How it works

  1. Train and certify with us. Pay for your course and certification, and keep your receipt.
  2. Get your certification (your card, or a verification letter from your TDI-SDI profile).
  3. Send the VA your claim. TDI-SDI has a pre-filled VA Form 22-0803, "Request for Reimbursement of Licensing or Certification Test Fees", for each approved certification. Send it with your receipt and proof of certification through the VA's QuickSubmit, or by mail.

What's approved

TDI-SDI lists scuba and technical certifications, public safety and first aid courses, and professional ratings. For example:

  • SDI Open Water Scuba Diver
  • TDI Trimix Diver
  • ERDI Emergency Response Diver I
  • First Response Oxygen Administration
  • SDI Open Water Scuba Diver Instructor and TDI Advanced Nitrox Instructor

What the VA covers

The VA reimburses licensing and certification test fees, including registration and administrative fees, up to $2,000 per test, and charges your entitlement based on what it pays back. You need to be covered by the Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33), the Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty (Chapter 30) or Selected Reserve (Chapter 1606), or Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance (Chapter 35). The VA decides what it reimburses: check with them before you start, and call us with any questions about the courses.
